The Coffee Pot Book Club reviewed "The Road to Moresco" - 4 stars
"Profoundly poignant historical biography"
An intimate and vivid depiction of the tireless quest for a brighter future, all while navigating the treacherous waters of a haunting past
A story that resonates with the reader, leaving an indelible mark long after the final page is turned
A work that masterfully captures the evolution of the world through the passage of time
Sometimes the thorough historical research and wealth of information ... obscures the vivid drama of human experience that truly brings history to life
I want to thank Mary Ann Yarde and The Coffee Pot Book Club for their diligent and thorough review of The Road to Moresco. It is a fair and balanced review, but also comprehensive, touching on many of the themes I hoped to convey.
In particular, it is encouraging and heart-felt to me when I see reviews such as this center the discussion on the main characters, Chiara and her mother, Maria-Luisa. Their struggles, their strength, their flaws are all central to reality they lived. In turn, those same elements are critical to understand their emotions and motivations. It was important to me to have them portrayed as they were, flaws and all. Imperfect people living imperfect lives in an imperfect world.
I'm glad their story lives on through these written words.
Mark
